Rod Sinks

Hon. Rod Sinks 1st Vice President City of Cupertino


Rod Sinks was elected to the Cupertino City Council in November 2011, re-elected in 2016, and served as Mayor in 2015. He champions issues including education, economy, transportation and environment. Regionally, he serves on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board, the Cities Association of Santa Clara County Executive Board, the VTA 85 Corridor Policy Advisory Board (founding chair), the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Authority Board (founding chair), and on the County Recycling and Waste Reduction Commission. He is on the City’s Audit and Fiscal Strategic Committees, and Council Liaison to local school districts. He served the community as a Scoutmaster and YMCA Adventure Guides Leader for many years, and currently serves on the Cupertino Rotary Board. Rod earned a BA in Physics from Grinnell College and BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He helped lead two high tech start-ups from infancy to successful businesses in engineering management roles.
